Peoples of the World: Tribes, States and The Global Village

This course examines band, tribal, chiefdom, pastoral and state-level peoples around the world in the past and present. It compares sociocultural systems and analyses the impact of conflict, colonialism and globalization. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding how world cultures are increasingly becoming interconnected through political, economic and technological processes.
